watercooler talk from the powers at BE suggest you are correct Jimrow as more mill closures is inevitable for Abitibi.

As everything is hear say so far, I heard the Gods are gonna bleed a certain few mills once all the paperwork is signed and Abitibi Quebecois will be the only Eastern mill presence in Canada. Times are changing very fast friends.
The forecast to 2014 on all the financial metrics is wildly optimistic - particularly for net income and cash flow. It's equally unrealistic to expect Abitibi to maintain all its capital equipment in working order by spending only $ 100 - 125 million per annum. This would suggest there will be more mill closures to come.

This is just smoke and mirrors bullshit. I'm sure they will have all kinds of grapghs with squiggly lines all pointing upward to show the courts in hopes that like minded people will allow them out of CCAA so they can go on raping and pillaging. Fresca has it right, sarcastic as it may be, its all conjecture. If this is really the truth then I guess their is really no need of the provincial gov'ts to give them any changes to timelines of pension payments. Also, a renewal of the CA with the Unions at 0% with no increases and no consessions should be suffice. If the courts buy this bullshit then you know the fix is in and was in right from the get go.

Investors seem to be dropping Bucky left and right. From week to week, it's a new and improved investor. The Chinese were no good because they were part of the Chinese Mafia- that was a good one. Others have been "dropped" because they were too high of interest or wanted more control of TB Pulp. Isn't there anyone who could take over this mill from Bucky? TB Pulp is running from one investor to another. When investors perform their "due Diligence" on Bucky, all of a sudden Bucky "drops" them. I'm sure it's the other way around though.

What!!! After 30 years of dedicated service my $53,400 in severance is reduced to breadcrumbs. My pension future is reduced because of your poor management. Why are there more than one directors per province?? Really are the wage cuts spread out or are the books just shaped to show that corporate is getting dinged too. The major lender gets there cut before a long term die hard employee gets his share no matter how short there connection with the company. The future of the forest industry is not newsprint any more, pulp is profitable, lumber is worth it but, wood pellets for consumer use and burning biofuel to produce electricity might be more like it. Take care of your own employees first.. and get with the times already!!
