Tembec reached an agreement with its employees from its Kapuskasing, Ontario newsprint mill, sawmill and forest operations.
Tembec employs 582 employees in Kapuskasing – 498 of which are unionized.
This collective agreement covers a 5-year contract that will expire in April 2017. “This agreement would not have been achieved without the support and hard work from all Local union leaderships, as well as those at the National and International levels,” stated Marc Tremblay, Tembec Chief Negotiator.
The Vote
CEP Local 256 voted 95.7% and local 89 voted 96.4% in favour of the company’s proposal.
Tembec resumed operations at 9pm Wednesday night.

I really don’t get it.
The Union risked shutting down the whole Mill forever, for an adverage of a .25 cent to .40 cent wage increased of the last 2 years, of a five year contract.
While all this could have been easely avoided if they would have just clarified things with their own people on the voting floor in the first place.
Again may I point out that no one again from the Union Leadership never even mention that the company had already given in on all it’s first request on the second offer, which means the contract could probably have been settle, without the Mill shutting down in the first place.
It seems the Union hid this from it’s members as a tactic of just focusing on the negative. To me that is playing Russian roulette with the Mill and it’s employees, the Town of Kapuskasing and all other business and people around the area.
It is good that we got at least a wage increase but all this seams a high risk to take as Union Rep for a so so small wage increase and a few other minor things.
Hey truth you are more f-ck up thanI thaught, you need to find a new god to guide you along the right path.
Tembec never went on strike
your right about that, they go on lock-out, then they close the place, just ask anybody in pine -falls, what happen when you play the roulette with them,
