Fort Frances kraft mill downtime due to lack of qualified personnel

Resolute Forest Products shut down its kraft mill in Fort Frances, Ontario yesterday.
The downtime is being blamed on a lack of qualified personnel for the 2nd class stationary engineer positions.
The kraft mill will be shut down for 1 week. 70 employees are affected.
Pierre Choquette, director of Canadian Public Affairs for the company, told the Fort Frances Times: “We are continuously evaluating every aspect of our operations to see what are the best options going forward.”
Operations at the paper mill are not affected.

Can you blame anyone with their 2nd for not working for this company?
How embarrassing, if the Fort Frances operation had any integrity- or if Resoloser had ANY— Management would be fired for allowing this to happen. What a joke.
….let’s hope they do not end up in Terrace Bay, On.
…..and if they do, the same is going to happen, as NO ONE wants to work for these idiots!!!!!
Dont worry, the guys walking away from Fort with the tickets required to run this place by law are headed west, and they will never set foot in a pulp and paper mill again. To bad the company couldnt or should I say wouldnt do anything about retaining them and the others who have left with 3rd and even 4ths before it got to this point. Word today was there are not enough people to fill the schedule next week either and that is after they got guys to defer their vacation till next after May1 and that the Kraft Mill will not be starting until April 1 at the earliest.
Our boiler house is in the same boat.We have been warning the a-holes here since the day they(and the union)disbanded the training program. We have two relief second class for the four shift engineers and all of us are either eligable to retire or months away.We have shown them what the future looks like,I have forwarded this article to my Chief, and the response is a shrug of the shoulders with a deer in the headlights look on his face!!Yes everyone is going west-they respect the tickets and pay for them like it should be!!Abi-bow or whatever moniker they choose to hide behind has not cornered the market in “head in the sand, grossly incompetent management people.”It just pains me that every once in a while one comes out of the union ranks!!!Just another way to blame the workers for the mills failure.
Out in BC we are waiting for the same to happen as well. Have the management at Pulp Mills all lost their minds.
