The downtime will begin on March 11 and will last for 3 weeks.
A lack of orders is being blamed for the downtime.

Can the NS taxpayer get some of the money back that Dexter was so willing to fork over to Absolutely DisGraceful.
It’ll be interesting to see if Absolutely Despicable lays off workers during this 3 week period.
Chopper this is an easy one to call. All union guys will go home and all management will sit on thier ass and get paid to do nothing. The mill is in dire need off repair but nothing will be done. It is only a matter of time before Montreal drives it in to the ground. Stay tuned I will be correct!
The Government money is as good as in Montreals coffers….it will never be taken away by Dexter….in fact, after these constant shuts that are never going to end for the life of this mill (actually they will only increase in frequency) Resolute will be going to ask the union for more concessions, followed by asking the NS taxpayer for more money in “order to save the jobs/mill” again. I have told people this years ago…..they will ask of everyone till there is nothing to ask for anymore, then it will be over for the workers for good as they will take what they bled out of the system and fly. I am just waiting to have them rewrite the part in the contract about having to pay half severance after 6 weeks closure so they can keep it down for longer than the 5weeks on 5 weeks off stunt they pull….another disatrous vote to come. By the way, 3 weeks will probably become 5 weeks towards the end of March… eeiguy….you are correct and so am I.
Hmmm, the training money from the government is being chewed up…little real training involved. We hired two training coordinators…guess HR cannot do the job they are supposed to.Employees that would be working anyway no doubt are having weekly pay counted as training to suck up that free money. Maybe the GOV> should demand reports on how the money is spent!Salary will work and be paid as usual….
Had to get official word through the news, HR cannot even get that right……if the market does not sink us, the obvious incompetence will
There’s a lot of incompetence to go around….the mill in Liverpool does not have a monopoly on it….there’s a lot of it at the mill just down the road. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The same old people making the same old decisions and expecting different results = Insanity!
well hutch, we all know how it works….production workers get 3 {or more} weeks off….mechanical will get a day or two to put a few band-aids on the wet-dry ends and tmp!!….salary will stay at full pay!!!..least guys get to use up leftover vacations!!..same old!
The company does not care what the people say.The government does not care either.Anyone outside of the workers do not understand what’s going on.they all seem to think everything is just hunky-fuc-ing dory
Seen the Premier on TV yesterday saying how good of shape the mill is in and it will continue to run for a long time. They really must of spiked that kool aid he drank with Garneaau and the boys back in December.
Sounds like the same garbage going on over here in NL with Kruger. Only thing they are not talking about downtime… just cut cut cut….well except for management. I guess everyone needs 1 manager for 3 workers. I feel for you guys. Stay strong and don’t give in to them!
Sorry Thomar,but we already did.
