Two new positions have been established in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland to help the province manage the crown land that was previously managed by AbitibiBowater.
The new Crown lands management officer and a Crown lands management specialist will assist with provincial inspections and other related management aspects.
The crown land was repatriated last December when Newfoundland and Labrador enacted the Abitibi-Consolidated Rights and Assets Act to expropriate AbitibiBowater's assets after they closed the Grand Falls-Windsor mill. With the assistance of the lands management officer and specialist in Grand Falls-Windsor, these lands will be integrated into the provincial Crown lands inventory.
