In August, Domtar announced its intention to close the Ear Falls, Ontario sawmill indefinitely.
Operations will wind down at the sawmill next week. The planer mill will close next - around December 18th.
These closures will result in 50 workers will be off the job before November, and another 50 workers laid off before Christmas.
The entire facility will be winterized.
Domtar will continue to manage the Trout Lake Forest - the main source of wood for the Ear Fall's mill - but logging operations will stop. This will affect an undetermined number of contract workers.
