Tolko has restarted its Creekside planer this week putting 20 previously laid-off workers back to work.
The planer will operate for the next 3-4 weeks. The mill had been curtailed in August affecting 22 employees.
Tolko's Lakeview sawmill is running on 2 shifts, and the Lakeview planer is running on three shifts.
“We still have a build-up of rough lumber, unfinished lumber,” Rob Fraser, Tolko’s general manager of Cariboo and Alberta lumber, says. “We’re taking advantage of the Creekside planer to plane some of Lakeview’s volume.”
