AbitibiBowater wants to sell its plant in Lufkin, Texas that was permanently idled in December 2007.
AbitibiBowater is seeking court approval to sell the mill to CIT Partners LLC. The plant consists of 895.5 acres of land, including 150 acres of landfill and 100 acres of ponds and marsh.
If the sale is approved, AbitibiBowater would save about $250,000 a month, or $3 million a year, that it spends on maintaining the facility. The sale also would protect the company from “any potential environmental liability that may arise” associated with the property.

Sell Thunder Bay Mr.Patterson and give them and the community an out of the mess you have created!
Don't most of you Abi-bow newsprint workers in TBay just want to know your pensions are there when you turn 55-57,you get your severance,wind-up and holiday $$ is paid out and that you can move on with your lives and "THEN" really don't care if they ever start those paper-machines up again?
How many of the bloggers here are too close to retirement to look elsewhere for other employment?
What's your main reason for "hanging on" to ABH?(If you know the $$ will be there when all is said and done.)
Hope all of you get what you deserve $$ wise and can accept the possibility that the TBay mill may never start those paper-machines up in a timely manner.
