Who cares about Lufkin it's been shut down since the "meeting of equals" the great business decision by Blowater to merge with Abishiti!

Sell Thunder Bay Mr.Patterson and give them and the community an out of the mess you have created!

crap, Lufkin was owned by Donahue who bought it from Champion. It was never owned by Bowater. It cost Donahgue 365 million, along with its sister mill in Sheldon texas. They also spent 4 million on buying and transporting calender stacks from Fletcher(now Catalyst) in an attempt to make value added grdae SNC. Never got off the ground. Abi bought Donahue(who always made money), and in a political battle Weaver and his gang ousted more qualified CEO Michelle Diesbiens and Gaston Buffard. If old Weaver was good at one thing, it was inner office political maneauvering.

I know Lufkin was an Abitibi asset and was closed as part of the merger deal.

Throwing out a few questions....

Don't most of you Abi-bow newsprint workers in TBay just want to know your pensions are there when you turn 55-57,you get your severance,wind-up and holiday $$ is paid out and that you can move on with your lives and "THEN" really don't care if they ever start those paper-machines up again?

How many of the bloggers here are too close to retirement to look elsewhere for other employment?

What's your main reason for "hanging on" to ABH?(If you know the $$ will be there when all is said and done.)

Hope all of you get what you deserve $$ wise and can accept the possibility that the TBay mill may never start those paper-machines up in a timely manner.

Crap, the Lufkin closing has nothing to do with the merger. Donahue has alreday idled it in their hopes to move away frm newsprint into soft nip calndered grades. Lufkin and Sheldon were high cost old clunkers, single wire fordreinere machines. JUNK. They were going to be mothballed no matter who owned them,,unless the mysterious "looking for a buyer" actually existed and would buy the lemon.

Ouch, that one stung. At least we have grade 12. Did manage to score that from Westgate before selling our souls to good old "G.L.P."
