Forest fires continue to rage near Kelowna, British Columbia, but officials have been able to lift the evacuation order in one area for 1,942 homes (6,000 people), as of this morning. These homes are north of Glenrosa Road in West Kelowna in an area where there is no inflammable vegetation left to burn.
Firefighters are making good progress fighting two of fires and although the temperatures have been over 30°C, firefighters are grateful the winds have been low.
The 400 hectare Glenrosa fire is now 60% contained, while the 150 hectare Rose Valley fire is 10% contained. But the third fire, at Terrace Mountain, grew by 500 hectares on Monday alone, reaching 1,300 hectares.
3 of the fires were started by humans.
