1 of Nova Scotia's 3 pulp mills qualify for yesterday's funding announcement

Nova Scotia has 3 pulp and paper mills, and just 1 of them will benefit from the yesterday's federal $1 billion announcement.
Northern Pulp in Pictou County produces black liquor, but Bowater Mersey and New Page use a different pulping process.
AbitibiBowater spokeman Seth Kursman is pleased with the announcement. He said that Abitibibowater has two mills in Ontario (Thunder Bay and Fort Frances) that produce black liquor and qualify for the federal aid, which he understood could be used for green improvements in other Canadian operations, including the Bowater Mersey mill.
Nova Scotia’s forestry sector was worth an estimated $1 billion annually in 2005, the last year industry figures were compiled, and generated 10,000 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs.
