Catalyst should just liquidate. Those mills were built for export to asia and the pacific rim. If they were gone , Abi and the other mills (who desperatly need orders) , would be able to easily fill customers needs. On the West coast, Norpak and a few other small mills could cover all those orders, which like the rest of the market, is shrinking. There is no use for Catalyst anymore.

They are currently gasping their last breath!.... as are a few others, as i stated before Abitibibowater is not going to shutter mills & in the process lose their market share..... I guess creditor protection may in some senses be a smart business decision....!!

& once the Black Liquor subsidy is killed in the US, the mills that are left are going to put a shillacking to the us mills (depending on the current value of the dollar!)....

Up to this point the US mills have gotten away fairly safely.... that is about to change! The industry in Canada is close to being streamlined... the industry in the US without the subsidy is not! ......

Catalyst needs to develop better sales and marketing DIRECTLY to customers. They sell over 70% of their product through paper merchents and brokers such as Buckley Dunton and McGrann Paper. The mill mkaes the paper, while the middle-men make all the profit. The 3% commision that Catalyst is giving up , could be sorely used right now.
