Northern Pulp and Bowater Mersey are both taking temporary downtime - 3 weeks at Northern Pulp and 6 weeks at Bowater Mersey.
As a result, Ledwidge Lumber in Enfield, near Halifax, said on Wednesday it would suspend operations for at least the next three weeks.
Ledwidge Lumber deliver chips to Northern Pulp. If the sawmill continued to operate, they would run into problems storing and preserving the quality of the wood chips.
The sawmill is a family-owned company that employs about 56 people.
The J.D. Irving Ltd. sawmill in Truro will also close on Monday and stay closed for the rest of June. It employs 80 people.
