Starting today, Tolko Industries is shutting down its lumber operation in Armstrong, British Columbia for one week, starting Monday.
185 employees will be off the job this week.
Pat Donnelly, plant manager, said. "People aren’t buying lumber. Our traditional markets in the east generally pick up at this time of the year but we’re not seeing it.”
Because of poor sales, the lumber operation, which produces studs, has been curtailed previously as has the plywood plant in Armstrong.
