Marathon Pulp, the northern Ontario mill that stood out as one who has not had to take any down time, has scheduled a 2 week closure that will begin on December 15th.
The announcement of this closure comes less than a month after the operation's 200 plant workers agreed to help the company survive by cutting their pay by 12.5 per cent and making other concessions.
The company said a two-week down period starting Dec. 15 will curtail production by 7,700 tonnes “and allow (the operation) to manage inventory and working capital to the appropriate levels,” according to a news release.
