In Thunder Bay, Ontario there are two mills attempting to re-open this year.
1: Thunder Bay Fine Papers has purchased, and is trying to re-open, the idled Cascades Mill.
2: The idled Abitibi mill has also attracted interest. A Montreal based company, Superior Packaging, is attempting to restart the mill by sinking a rumoured $50 million in to the facility. The money will be coming from a group of investors. The company hopes to begin operations later this year with about 80 workers to start, plus another 40 indirect jobs.
