Grant Forest Products - Timmins Strike Update
Jul 13, 2007 | In Labour Negotiations | Send feedback »
For close to a year now, the workers of the Grant Forest Products oriented strand board mill in Timmins, Ontario have been walking the picket line.
There has been very little negotiation since the workers were locked out last September after 67 per cent of the workers rejected a new contract offered to them.
Howard Hampton, the Ontario NDP leader, and MPP Gilles Bisson (NDP — Timmins-James Bay) visited the picket line this week.
"I wish I was here under different circumstances," Hampton said. "The forest industry is being decimated. (Forestry) job losses in the province are approaching 45,000 under the McGuinty government."
