DomtarToday Domtar released a new product: Antimicrobial Office Paper

By treating its paper product with a silver compound, Domtar has produced the first antimicrobial office paper available in North America. This new innovative paper product is designed to protect paper against the growth of bacteria, odors, fungus, mold and mildew.

Although marketed as a general office paper, this new product will be welcomed in the healthcare, laboratory, hospitality, education and governmental sectors.

Technical specs from Domtar:

Laboratory studies show that one bacterium can reproduce into 10 billion bacteria in just 10 hours.(1) Independent laboratory tests on Domtar Antimicrobial Office Paper(TM) demonstrate a 99% reduction of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and K. pneumoniae.(2) The paper also inhibits the growth of bacterial odors, mold, mildew and fungus while maintaining the antimicrobial features throughout its shelf life, making it ideal for archival purposes. Additionally, Domtar Antimicrobial Office Paper retains its antimicrobial properties even after printing and varnishing.

This new paper product will join the Domtar EarthChoice® line of FSC-certified paper.
